Acknowledge and thank that voice in your head

It’s normal to feel inadequate at this stage. You’re doing something new and scary, and your brain is accustomed to you doing what you’ve always done. Rewiring neural pathways is hard.

So, acknowledge it. Something like this:

Hello, resistance. Welcome. You can have a seat right here next to me. You don’t have to hide. I know you’re there, so come on out. There’s plenty of space for you out of the shadows.

Now, it’s your turn:

Now, write it a thanks-but-no-thanks note.

Dear resistance,

Hi~ I know you’re here to keep me safe because I’m doing something scary. But I am safe, so I’m going to push through and try something new anyway. This is truly the only way I’ll grow.

Now, it’s your turn:

Read them aloud.

(Wait until no one can hear you if you’re out in public.)
